A violent incident turns the life of Commissioner Carl Morck (Matthew Goode) upside down, leaving him with psychological trauma. He is assigned to establish a cold case division called "Department Q." Initially, disillusioned, he is content to waste time there. However, his instincts as a policeman are eventually awakened, and his new department begins to attract many outsiders and nonconformists.
